Description: Another special New Zealand heritage bean that has come in to us from many places around Northland, but first from Willow of Tapuaetahi Beach in Kerikeri. Willow said it had originally come in with an Italian family in the north after the war. It is a speciality drying bean. It’s a dry, climber beans and is small dark (almost black) with browny purple streaks on it. The Kōanga team thinks it has outstanding flavour and is great for re-fried beans.

Planting Instructions: Scatter sow into seed trays. Transplant when second leaves appear at 10cm spacing under trellis. This will avoid problems with birds, slugs, snails, and rotting in cold ground.
