By combining our own heritage seeds with those sourced from regenerative practices and trusted New Zealand Regenerative Agriculture seed producers, along with organic grain growers, we’ve developed a comprehensive solution that stands above the rest.

This pack includes: blue lupins, common vetch, crimson clover, black oats, rye corn, wheat, our unique Kōanga brassica mix, a Kōanga chenopod mix, and amaranth.

 

This pack of seeds is enough to plant 100 – 120 sq m of garden bed (10 x 10 sq m beds) or area of ground. Be wary of over planting as each plant needs space to grow or they tend to lodge or fall over when planted too close as they get weak stems. Prepare your bed well, and scatter sow over the entire area, chop in and cover with 70% shade cloth until the growing tips come up through the cloth. Lift carefully then replace for a few more days, before lifting finally. We mulch our beds with ramial woodchip to maintain soil health,at the time we plant Soil Builder. If you have Koanga BioBrew, or your own microbial innoculant (particularly a highly fungal one) then either sprinkle over the beds when planting the seed,or use in liquid form and water over the beds when planting the seed to get ultimate results. Soil Builder and all Carbon crops can be pulled out and composted at any stage of their growth but the best time to pull them out is a couple of weeks before the next crop goes in, giving you time to prepare the bed. Once the carbon crops reach 10% flowering( ie 10% of their flowers have opened) then they are switching to lignaceous carbon (rather than metabolic carbon) which is really what we are looking for in the compost heap. If they are removed for compost earlier than 10% flowering then they are part of the green immature layer rather than the carbonaceous layer.
