Description: The kiwano is an oval shaped fruit which has an orange skin with lots of tiny sharp horns. sometimes called a horned melon. The kiwano is slightly sweet and has a refreshing taste. The longer it’s stored, the sweeter it gets. They store for months. Kiwano are gaining popularity because of their long list of nutritional and medicinal qualities, particularly diabetes, but also eye, brain, bone, metabolism and digestion health.
Planting Instructions: Sow seed into tray after danger of frost. Prick out at 6cm spacings when first leaves appear. Transplant into garden at 1m spacings once soil temp reaches 15-16 degrees C. along a trellis or fence etc. Beware, they are very vigorous growers.
