Description: An Autumn planted grain cultivar that has come from the organic mixed cropping farm of Milmore Downs, where they have grown it Biodynamically for over 25 years. This barley doesn’t need hulling so is a great addition to our collection of grains for home gardeners. We love it when sprouted and made into barley cakes, and it’s great in soups but more chewy than the pearl we are used to.
All grains contain phytic acids and other anti nutrients and were traditionally always either fermented, sprouted or soaked and cooked for a long slow period to make the grains digestible and nutritious for the human digestive system. Please consider doing the same. If you want to know more a must buy book is Change of Heart – Kay’s Recipe Book!
