Temperate Forest Garden<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- The magic happens this month with everything beginning to go green\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Make sure all citrus trees are well manured and mulched and you have a watering system in place for them<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Foliar feed if necessary, 3 days before full moon\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Buds will break this month , energy of the trees is coming up into the tops<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Good time to chop and drop tagasaste, tree lupins , as they finish flowering\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Finish chipping all prunings and spread ramial wood chip around to feed fungi<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Geese and ducks will be nesting now, and chickens laying well<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
FULL MOON<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nSeptember 18th <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nGarden<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n- Foliar feed, but check BRIX\u2019s to ensure that the spray you use is actually making a difference that is positive. If necessary feed \u00a0 seedlings to promote growth , or water seedlings with Fish Hydrolysate 20:1 or simply do a weekly soil drench with Fish Hydrolysate at 100:1 to give the microbes a boost.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Sow carrots ( in warm areas only)\u00a0 beetroot into trays (scatter sown), parsnip (direct sow into beds in warm areas only) , and , turnips\u00a0 direct sow into garden 3 days after full moon<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Transplant the last of your onion sets<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- plant early potatoes now, and decide whether you will hill them up as they grow or mulch them heavily instead\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Continue bed preparation and compost heap making<\/li>\n\n\n\n

- Build cloches ready for early veggies<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Take good care of seedlings<\/li>\n\n\n\n

- Prepare kumara beds. They prefer shallow soils with a hard pan 20-30cm under the surface, so do not double dig these beds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
