Pruning is an art as well as a skill…. It is about learning to read individual trees as well as understanding the principles involved. Murray is a very experienced expert pruner and a day spent with him will be amazing for those of you who learn better in action than from a book.
This workshop will give theory and practise on how to prune new trees, older trees and different kinds of fruit trees..
Our experience is that learning to prune all kinds of fruit trees in one day is too much to adequately take in. This year we are offering two pruning workshops – one focusing on pip fruit (apples and pears) and the other on stone fruit (peaches, plums and apricots).
Our Fruit Tree Propagation Workshop is the perfect companion to the pruning workshops and will be held on 2nd July. The pip fruit pruning workshop will be held on Sunday 3rd July. For anyone planning to stay to do more than one of these consecutive workshops we recommend finding local accommodation as our facilities are not suitable for winter camping.
Recommended Book: How To Prune Fruit Trees by Sanford Martin. This is the only pruning book that we recommend. Heaps of information and simple to follow. A copy is invaluable for home orchardists.
