Description: Aka Couve Tronchuda. Portuguese Kale or Sea Kale, An heirloom ethnic variety with a sweet, tender flavour somewhere between Cabbage and Kale. It is a bright jade-green, loose-headed Cabbage with fleshy white mid-ribs and wide-spreading leaves. Sweeter and more tender than regular Cabbage, it may be harvested as a whole plant or leaf-harvested to promote center re-growth with paler, milder, frilly leaves.
Planting Instructions: Sow into seed trays in Autumn or early Spring. Prick out when first two leaves appear to 3 cm diagonal spacing. Transplant 4 weeks later or when 6-8 cm high to 50 cm diagonal spacing.
