Description: AKA Couve Tronchuda, Portuguese Kale or Sea Kale. An heirloom ethnic variety with a sweet, tender flavour somewhere between cabbage and kale. It is a bright jade-green, loose-headed cabbage with fleshy white mid-ribs and wide-spreading leaves. Sweeter and more tender than regular cabbage, it may be harvested as a whole plant or leaf-harvested to promote center re-growth with paler, milder, frilly leaves.
Planting Instructions: Sow into seed trays in Autumn or early Spring. Prick out when first two leaves appear to 3cm diagonal spacing. Transplant 4 weeks later or when 6-8cm high to 50cm diagonal spacing.
