Description
These turmeric starters have been grown organically in Hokianga in a tunnel house.
Turmeric is easier to grow than ginger and could be grown inside in a largish pot if no other warm space available. Each plant grows a lot of turmeric that is harvested when the tops die back in Winter.
Plant turmeric horizontal just under the surface of the soil. The new edible turmeric will grow downwards from the original piece.
The tops will grow around 80cm high and they have stunning white large flowers.
The turmeric can be used in many ways including grating fresh in everything from drinks to curries and also fermented as a condiment.
