Description: These are the original Tioga strawberries with red skins and white flesh and were gifted to our collection by strawberry growers near Oamaru in the 1990’s. They taste far better than red fleshed ones, are very vigorous and healthy growers.
Planting Instructions: Plant in rows with plants 30-40cm apart in the row and 50cm apart between rows. Be sure to have a plan for covering from birds before fruit begins ripening. Strawberries are heavy feeders so prepare the beds with compost, and provide liquid or foliar feeds during the growing season. They need well drained soil and must not sit in poorly drained soil over winter. They love a pine needle mulch and a little seaweed.
