Description: A perennial herb that has smaller leaves and is more compact than regular comfrey. Makes an excellent border plant, does not spread by seed and never loses it’s leaves. Has purple flowers.
For herbal leys, kikuyu barriers, liquid teas and feeding animals. An essential part of any garden and orchard/forest garden, an important mineral accumulator. Spreads by creeping rhizomes which can then be split off to create new plants. Difficult to remove totally once you have it so position it carefully! Not as deep rooting as Russian comfrey but grows quickly and can be cut several times a year for mulch.
Poultry love it and it can be difficult to establish in orchards where geese graze as they tend to eat it out.
