Description: An heirloom originating near Lake Ontario in 1894, but has been in this land for many years now. Tender and delicious, these beautiful, deep crimson beets do not get woody as do smaller varieties if allowed to grow large. Perfect for pickling, roasting, and even raw in salads! The greens rival chard and spinach for tenderness and flavor, and are very nutritious.
Planting Instructions: Scatter seed into trays leaving space so they don’t need pricking out, cover with 3mm of seed raising mix. To avoid black spots and rotting leaves must be a quality nutritious mix. Transplant 4-6 weeks later at 10 cm diagonal spacings.
